Five WSDA employees became eligible to select a prize because their names were randomly selected in the most recent QUICK Awards drawing. Agencywide, employees handed out 53 awards to their coworkers.

QUICK Awards are presented by employees who see their peers demonstrating good work and service to others – either inside or outside the agency. Here are the prize recipients from the last quarterly drawing.

Ofelio Borges, Pesticide Management Technical Services and Education, Yakima
The Specialty Crop Block Grant Program recognized Ofelio for participating in their phase I evaluation process. His expertise, time, and thoughtful evaluation of proposals help ensure that WSDA selects the most promising projects with the greatest impact to Washington's specialty crop industry.

Paul Cote, Commodity Inspection Fruit and Vegetable Inspection Program, East Wenatchee
Ofelio Borges

Paul received a QUICK Award for suggesting the device that was eventually chosen for the upcoming FA2 replacement. Had Paul not brought this device to our attention, we would likely have chosen a lesser one. Paul's recommendation will improve his coworkers experience in the field.
Lacey Dendy, with her daughter.

Lacey Dendy, Pesticide Management Registration and Licensing, Olympia
Lacey earned an award for taking over the file clean-up project with full force. She finished the project within her first month of employment. She was recognized for her hard work in completing the first phase of the scan-and-toss project.

Katie Noland, Director’s Office Natural Resources Assessment Section, Olympia
Paul Cote

Katie was honored for her astounding efficiency in completing extremely high-quality work, being always on task and never letting things fall through the cracks. Her presence and work ethic is inspiring to those who work with her, and she always recognizes other people for their work.

Carol Schmidt, Director’s Office NRB Reception Desk, Olympia
Carol was recognized for assisting with an inter-agency letter for the director. And she received a big thanks for being “the back-up to the back-up to the back-up the day before a holiday.”

When you catch one of your coworkers doing something special for staff or customers, why not let them know with a QUICK Award?

You can find the award form on the intranet. Forms are also available from your division coordinator or agency receptionists.
